What is iDx?
iDx — Intelligence & Data Transformation — is the AI research laboratory of the West Visayas State University College of Information and Communications Technology (WVSU CICT). It applies artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science to problems in health, agriculture and enterprise across Western Visayas.
What research areas does iDx work in?
Three. AI & Health Resilience covers healthcare, public health, disaster preparedness and response, and climate and community resilience. AI Agriculture & Food Systems covers precision agriculture, crop and farm monitoring, agricultural decision support and food security. AI MSME Innovation covers business intelligence, process automation and digital transformation for micro, small and medium enterprises.
What research methods does the laboratory use?
Six: predictive and decision-support modelling; geospatial and remote-sensing analysis; applied machine learning and data governance; computational and network-based methods; time-series and forecasting analysis; and business intelligence and analytics dashboards.
Where is iDx based?
At the College of Information and Communications Technology, West Visayas State University, La Paz, Iloilo City, Philippines.
Who leads the laboratory?
The laboratory's direction is set by the Dean of the College of Information and Communications Technology, Dr. Ma. Beth S. Concepcion, with day-to-day research coordination led by the Research Coordinator, Dr. Regin Cabacas. The research team is composed of faculty researchers from across the College.

Does iDx work with government and industry partners?
Yes. iDx works within the WVSU network of research, innovation and technology-transfer offices: the University Research and Development Center (URDC) for research development and ethics review, CDx for digital transformation in local governance, the Knowledge and Technology Transfer and Business Development Center (KTTBDC) for moving prototypes to end users, WVSU ITSO for intellectual property, BINHI TBI for incubation, and WIRED++ for permanent indexing of research outputs.
How does iDx handle data and privacy?
Responsible data practice is a starting requirement of every project, not an afterthought. Research follows the University's ethics review and data-governance rules. What this website itself collects is set out in the privacy notice.
Can students and faculty get involved?
The research team is currently composed of faculty researchers from across the College of Information and Communications Technology. Students and faculty who want to ask about research involvement can write to the laboratory.
